Biography

Leadership Born in the Crossfire

Ahmad Shah Mohibi was born and raised in Afghanistan during one of the most turbulent periods in the country's history. Growing up amid conflict, he learned early that survival demanded courage, adaptability, and an unrelenting commitment to something greater than oneself.

At just 16 years old, Mohibi began serving alongside U.S. forces — a pivotal experience that would define his understanding of leadership under pressure, cross-cultural cooperation, and the human cost of conflict. His service earned him a special immigrant visa to the United States, where he would rebuild his life and channel his experiences into a career at the highest levels of policy and advisory work.

Once in the United States, Mohibi pursued an ambitious path through government and advisory roles. He served in federal advisory capacities, helping shape strategy on counterterrorism, national security, and foreign policy. He went on to found Kokcha Advisory, a boutique firm specializing in geopolitical risk, leadership development, and crisis management for governments and organizations operating in complex environments.

As President and CEO of Rise to Peace, one of the country's leading counterterrorism organizations, Mohibi has trained over 600 leaders across 34 countries — building the kind of global network of change-makers that only someone with his background could convene. His work bridges the gap between frontline conflict experience and high-level strategic thinking.

A sought-after voice on global security and leadership, Mohibi has been featured on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, CGTN, and TRT World. He has delivered keynotes and executive briefings to government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, universities, and international organizations — drawing on a reservoir of real-world experience that few speakers can match.

His memoir, WarGuy, distills the hard-won lessons of a life lived at the intersection of war, diplomacy, and leadership. The book has resonated with readers worldwide as a testament to resilience, purpose, and the enduring power of human will.

He is also the host of the WarGuy Podcast, where he engages world-class leaders, policymakers, and thinkers in honest conversations about conflict, strategy, entrepreneurship, and what it truly means to lead.

Mohibi holds a Master's degree from George Washington University and a Bachelor's degree from George Mason University. He is also the founder of the Mohibi Foundation, dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders from conflict-affected communities.

Today, Ahmad Shah Mohibi stands as a bridge between worlds — between East and West, between conflict and peace, between lived experience and strategic wisdom. His story is not just one of survival. It is a blueprint for leading with conviction in a world that rarely offers easy answers.
